Here is a harrowing experience of my Uncle & Aunt(Mr. & Mrs. Swatantra Dutta), both retired senior citizen who were taken for a despicable ride by Thomas Crook/Cook Delhi office. More than Rs.1 Lac of their saving have been scammed by Thomas Crook/Cook shamelessly.
Can someone suggest what can be done to take them to task for this daylight robbery of senior citizens.
Here is there painful account in their own words.
-
Me and My Wife had opted for Thomas Cook, thinking it is International Company and we will not be taken for ride, but unfortunately it has proved otherwise. I will give details in chronological order.
- First meeting 26th October2013, Thomas Cook representative Ms Neha Mishra visited our residence, gave all details of tour and made a booking.
2 We discussed in detail with Ms Neha, and explained her that my wife will go for knee treatment, and operation if advised by Doctor
- We paid an advance PDC cheque of Rs one Lac, which was cashed in first week of November.
4.In the meanwhile Ms Neha has been calling for fixation of Journey date, which we could not visit her office, due to some reason or other. But on her insisting that we must visit her office and discuss face to face.
We visited Thomas Cook office on Jan 14th, 2014. clearly told her about the medical condition of my wife. also told her that Knee operation might take place any time. But She insisted that some date should be mentioned which can always be changed due to genuine medical ground. And 3rd May was suggested by her. So we accepted it as tentative date
5.My wife Swapna was advised for knee operation on 21st November, and scheduled for TKR( Total Knee replacement) on 29th January.
In the meanwhile Visa department has been calling on phone, and I Told them on phone that I will not be able to go for Visa application, because of swapnas treatment
Swapna was operated on 29 th January, in MAX Super speciality Hospital Patpar Ganj, and I could not communicate to Thomas Cook due to involvement in Hospital and post operation care, till First week of March.
Although I had been in touch with Visa department of Thomas cook, and their representative asked me to submit medical certificate for proof for the delay.
Dr Akhilesh Yadav(Orthopaedic Surgeonof Max Hospital), after observing the post operation result and satisfying with improvement, issued Medical certificate on March 6th 2014, which was submitted to Thomas Cook on 8th March.
9.After I submitted the certificate, Sales representativr Ms Neha Stopped taking my call for changing the date, as I was trying to extend the trip from 3rd May to a later date in July or August
10 Instead Thomas Cook Bombay Office started sending auto generated message that there will be a penalty FIRST 20.000 per ticket and later 44500/- per ticket, if we donot take the trip on 3rd May
- we again visited Thomas cook Office on April 1st, after a talk on phone with Mr Anshul Gupta, that we should visit and discuss the matter. But on 1st April Mr Anil Nagar met us in the C P Office. he took photocopy of all medical History and letter explaining details.
Although Mr Anil verbally promised that extension will be possible after approval from Bombay Office, and he hopes for positive action from their head office .
But there is no reply after that. Now Mr Anil Nagar is disconnecting my calls and there is no reply to my letter of April 1st.
I need your special attention to study this case, and advise that request for extension of date is valid or not.We are not asking for refund but extension
