I dont really know when TU came into being.But it has always been the drink for grown-ups and wouldbe -grownups.Sold in its 250 ml bottle, it always had a kind of vitality to it.There was a time when the brand was owned by Ramesh Chauhan of Bisleri fame.These days , it belongs to the Coca Cola company.In the years when it was king, Thums Up was the preferred drink of the hip and happening.Cricketers sipped Thums Up, so did the trendy crowds in upmarket colleges.It was the drink of Generation -Xers before liberalisation.When Coke and Pepsi came, for around five years it was a dead brand.Today it is promoted as a drink for grown ups.I buy Thums Up because of my old loyalty to it.Though a competitor calls it cough syrup Thumps Up gives a hot fizzy feeling(THUNDER?) equalled only by the real GROWN UP drink.
