We moved into our new house some 3 months back and we couldnt get our Airtel Broadband connection transferred from our old place, because the Airtel’s ports were full. And we had to opt for some thing else. I saw this Tikona add, and it being Wire less broadband, I thought it should help. I convinced my husband to go for this one and finally the sales guy came home. He spoke a lot about Tikona, its excellence, wonderful signal etc. He went to the terrace, checked for signal strength, and gave assurance that there was 80% signal strength. We bought a Wireless internal router as per the sales guy’s advice. We made the payment and a guy came next day. He went to the terrace, got back saying that the signal strength was poor, it was just 25%. We got irritated, ‘How can that be possible when the sales guy had confirmed 80?”. He told “I don’t know”. Left for lunch, came back in the evening to collect his tools and escape. Next day nobody came. You call the sales guy, he will not pick the call. We call the call center, they will keep transferring the call from one department to another, and will keep you on hold for such a long time that you will lose your patience. 3 days passed by in this. Finally we called the sales guy and had to shout at him. He gave his boss’s no. who in-turn gave his boss’s number, after lots of persuasion and shouting, they accepted to send someone the same day. This time, the same techie and another senior person came, this senior person told that the signal strength is good. And immediately gave connection. And voila, we got internet.
Lesson learnt: Tikona does not service customer properly until you shout at them, and they invariably send in-experienced guys for setting up connections.
Couple of months back, my husband wanted to connect his official laptop to internet at home, and we dint have the security code, so he called up the service center to get it. We gave the account no. ect, and the guy told, “You have not bought the Wireless router from us, so we cant give you the code”. But actually if you would note, I had previously told you that we got the Wireless router from a shop, instead of Tikona, on the advice of the Tikona Sales guy. When we told this to them, they refused to accept it. They kept telling the same, you know like a parrot. I don’t know if these guys act as if they do not understand your words, or really they don’t understand. We got frustrated, and cut the call.
Lesson learnt: the sales guy will advice you to purchase a Wireless router from external shops, because, you can use the same router for any other internet provider. Yes it is better for you. And Tikona will not bother when you make the initial payment and purchase the connection, because it is sales for them. They earn money.
But when you go back to them for the security key to connect another laptop/pc to the router, they will not give you the information, they will punish you for going with the Non-Tikona router. So try to negotiate the deal before you make the first payment. Get everything in writing/E-mail.
Nest, last month, I was supposed to get a bill of Rs 590 incl taxes etc. but they had charged me Rs 650. I checked with my husband if we had exceeded our limit of usage, but no we had not at all used it that month, because connection was down most of the time. When I called up the customer care, they told, they cant do anything, “you please drop a mail to us, we will look into it”, I told when can I get a reply on this, he told he cant guarantee a date. I got irritated, then what is the purpose of customer care yaar, they cant give you security key, they cant resolve billing issue, they cant take a service request for billing issue.
Next we called them with regard to connection problem. Most of the time the connection is down/slow. The guy who answered told, it should be because of weak signal, and then when we told that the signal must be 80% strong, then he told he will raise a request for sending some one to check on it. It has been 1 and a half months, nobody has come to check it till date.
Lesson learnt: No point calling the customer care.
Finally fed-up of all this I sent a mail to the “Nodal officer”, with all these information, till date I have not got any response.
Final Lesson Learnt: Don’t get Tikona. These guys are behind stealing your money. They are most irresponsible bunch of guys.
