Sales Process:
We applied for a Tikona connection through their web site, and their sales rep showed up on 15th May and took the cheque and gave us the application number: 50000011951143. We were given the name of one Mr Manohar as the contact person as the person to call if installation does not happen in two days. After the two days, and trying a zillion times, Mr Manohar responded by saying he will call back in 30 minutes. Of course he didnt. Then after trying to get through his constantly busy number again next day, he answered saying he will ensure installation happens immediately. Of course it didnt.
Installation
In a few days, someone from their outsourced installation company called us mentioning that installation was not viable since they did not have infrastructure in the area. However, their website did not say that. They also had collected the money.
In spite of non-viablity, Tikona proceeded to encash the cheque on 18th May.
Customer Care
This is sort of non-existant. We wrote to them twice, and were told that the situation is being fixed. Of course nothing got done.
Then we wrote to their nodal office - one Mr Vikram Kathavate. He of course is too busy to respond to emails, though that seems like the only way to contact him. Then we sent him a reminder email. He chose to reply to the first email mentioning that this is being looked into and their customer service people will call us and resolve. Of course nothing happened.
We are now writing a second reminder to him, after which we will escalate up the chain again
Basic Fraud
Here is a company which encashes peoples cheques in spite of knowing that a connection is not feasible and then refuses to refund. No reason why they should not be taken to consumer court.
