I have been using Tikona broadband at my home-office for over a year now. I am a freelance developer and use net for my work & afterwork leisure .
My earlier plan was not so good so changed my plan . The plan I have now costs me Rs. 800 a month with 20GB @4Mbps . I get speed in range of 3.4 to 4.1 Mbps most of the time except Saturday evenings where it drops to 2-3 Mbps .
Post 20 GB, speed drops to 512 kbps(actually to 200-300 kbps) but still I am able to use another 5-10 GB(Torrents primarily) . So 25-30 GB @800(~3 Paisa per MB) is not a bad deal .
The plan restrict no of devices & simultaneous connections I can use . But I use a Linksys 11n Wi-Fi router to bypass this limit and connect to all my devices .
It does gives connectivity problems sometime when I have to call their helpdesk . Response on their On Call Tech Support(022-40629629) is faster compared to their Call center 1-800 number .
Most times resolution is done on Call. But sometime Resolution may take a day or two. Last time, after heavy rains, they have to replace complete cable coming from Antenna to my Wi-Fi router. Water seepage due to some cuts on cable. Though No cost to me .
To the people interested in Tikona broadband at home, check if Tikona is present in your area . You can leave your contact details on their Website and if they are present they will(should) contact you .
Some Gyan I have collected from their support engineer who visited my home:
Connection & speeds depends on the tower near you and whether it can support such speeds or not. They sometime refuse connection if they do not have tower in the area or the distance is more than what they can support. Their upfront charges are approx. 2500 -3000 now, which is steep for Home broadband compared to other .But you pay only after they fix their antenna at your home and you check the service is working fine .Else you can refuse to subscribe at no loss.
