Waiting in line

05-APR

Finally I see some bucks in my bank account.  What a wait.  In total, it took,  21 days(15 business days).  Not worth it. I have logged a complaint with TOML’s grievance section already.  To add to my woes, rupee was strongest against USD in last 5 years, I guess :-(

04-APR

Update#1:  Till date I haven’t had any luck with TimesofMoney. Lame excuse that they transferred the money to my benificiary’s account, but it has been returned by them citing incorrect MICR code. I have asked them to re-transfer the money as MICR code as well as other information provided by me are correct as per my knowledge.

To start with, TOML has to improve the way their website works. For any person who is visiting their website for the first time, its way to confusing to navigate. One can access the website by directly entering remit2india.com but there are links from timesofindia.com, economictimes.com, indiatimes.com as well.  TOML website, when accessed from these other pages, looks quite different than when accessed from remit2india.com.  Anyway, back to the problem I have been facing at the moment. This website requires a US resident to have a SSN while transferring the money.

Faire enough.  But do they tell their customers that TOML do not have up-to-date information of SSN records from DHS(dept of homeland security in US).  As mine is a new SSN(issued in 2007), TOML do not have my records with them.  Is that my problem?  First they informed me by email that I have entered my SSN incorrectly while transferring the money and go to a particular link to provide the correct information.  This itself is wrong email to send.

Lets say I made type error while registering. I go to the link and enter my SSN again along with some more informations.  Again, I get an email from them(next day), stating that SSN details are still not matching with their records and to send a scan copy of my SSN card.  How on earth do they expect people to have a personal scanner. Its not easy to find an internet cafe in my vicinity, forget a scanner. Do they expect me to buy a scanner.

Neverthless, they have told me that I have to fax them a scanned copy of SSN, without that it would not be possible for them to transfer the money.  Meanwhile, my US bank account shows that money has already been debited from account. That means, I loose the interest on the money till the time TOML sends the money.

Would write another update, once the transaction is successful.
