Basically there are two types of Bike Engines. One is Two-Stroke and another is four Stroke.
The engine typically drives rear wheel. Most Engines have a gearbox with two to six ratios.
Engine capacity typically ranges from 50CC to 750CC.
Engines and gearboxes were originally separate items, the gear box being by a "Primary Chain". Some manufacturers, such as Norton and Enfield continued with "Pre-unit" construction Until recently, and Harley Devidson still makes pre-Unit engines today.
The Different types of Engines for Bikes is:
1. Single Cylinder Engine
2. Straight-Twine Engine
3. V-Twine Engine
4. Flat Twine Engine
5. Inline Triple(Straight - three engine)
4. Four Cylinder Engine
5. Flat-Six Engines
6. V8 Engine
In INDIA most companies generates the bike on the basis of single cylinder engine.
this engines are 4-stroke Petrol engine. and for different types of bikes there are different suitable engines are apply.
Based on design and the capacity the engines are fitted to the chesis of the bike.
In india mostly people uses bikes with 100CC to 300CC Engines.
Now the main thing is how to select the suitable engine for your bike on the users requirement.
Based on the requirement, if you are daily user then suitable 100CC to 150CC because it will affect the mileage and the performance of the bike and it also affects the maintenence cost of the bike.
and if you are rare user then it is suitable 100CC to 300CC Engine bike.
For the better performance of engine the main thing is you must maintain the engine oil and change it with specific time cycle. and another thing is maintain the speed when you drive.
