Most of us in todays world prefer to sit back in out drawing rooms to just talk and curse the Government and its services. Little do we all realize that we are a part and parcel of that mess that is created day in and day out.
It is not enough to be just aware of what rights or just sit back and keep harping about rights. Also, it is definitely not right to sit back and blame services of the Government or the service providers. We need to define our role in society more than just define the periphery of it. Because most of the time we ourselves carry the burden of being wrong simply because of the fact that we ignore the simple rule of checking as to what we are buying and what services we take.
Our bounden duty first lies in following the standards drawn by the consumer act in toto and stand up to correct the system rather than just remain an arm chair drawing room critic. Let us not fail to remember that our alertness in the market fetches us a proper buy or a service. Manufacturer too has his bounds which have been drawn for our own safety. How much do we care to check if the manufacturers abide by them. A simple example, how many of us check for the expiry date when we buy medicines and how many of us check for the original products when we buy other goods.
How many of us object to a person speeding away at a signal when the police is not around. How many of us object to people not having his headlights turned on during the night. We always think about being noticed when we make noise about such things and half the time even embarass those who make noise about it. It is not that our actions are wrong but just that we need to change our attitude when we things go wrong for no reason at all.
Many consumer research surveys have shown that it is not always the manufacturer who is wrong, but sometimes mistakes do happen because we as consumers never care to check for right procedures being fulfilled. For example, if I ask for a copy of the bill to be given to me and the restaurant manager says he does not follow anything like that and I insist on it, people around me begin to laugh and sometimes people even snarl at me for insisting. How wonderful it would be if the same people around me joined me and convinced himabout giving a bill? After all, its a bill for what I have eaten? Am I right?
