I'll have another beer please!

Fried this and fried that, what does this equal? Well, it equals money in the cash register for your local pub!   At any given time, you’ll find salted peanuts, popcorn, pretzels or goldfish, sitting in bowls waiting to be eaten at absolutely no charge to you! The more you eat, the thirstier you get, the thirstier you get the more you drink.$ for the pub owner. And the vicious cycle repeats itself! Eat, drink, eat some more and’Hey, I’ll have another beer!’

But, aside from that, you’ll also find some really good fried foods at your local pub as well. Great chicken wings! Deep fried, coated with hot sauce, mmmm mmmm good. Oops, ’I’ll have another beer please.’

How about a tasty side order of, fried cheese sticks, zuchinni sticks, mushrooms, onion rings or chicken strips?’Great!’.’I’ll have another beer please.’

Most of the snack type food served up at the local watering holes have an ulterior motive. Make the patrons thirsty, make more money serving drinks.   But, I must confess, some really good food is also served at local pubs. And at fairly reasonable prices too.

Most neighborhood places usually serve up some really great hamburgers. Not your McDonalds or Burger King kind. Usually a 1/4 or 1/3 lb. of fresh ground beef served with fries, lettuce and tomato for under$5.00.

Bar pizza is also a good bet most of the time. An individual pizza with pepperoni and sausage, dripping with cheese usually doesn’t set you back more than$3-4.

Most sandwiches I’ve eaten at our neighborhood pubs have also been great. How’s this for a lunch?(or dinner).Fresh rye bread, spread with mustard, some lettuce, tomato, onion and about a 1/4 lb. of sliced roast beef, corned beef or salami. Served with fries and a great pickle.$4.00.

Local pubs are out to serve drinks. You know that. And they know that if they serve some good food, at reasonable prices, you’re bound to have a couple of extra beers with that sandwich. Or an extra drink or two with you snack.

I’ve found that pub food is usually really quite good. Nothing fancy, but a good deal for your money and.by the way, ’I’ll have another beer with that please!’

I do not drink beer.  The comments were just to add a bit of humor to this review.
