Nowadays, an email id has became an integral part of our virtual identity. According to a study 72.3% of the people forget their password, this number increased due to features like keep me logged in and remember my password. Even this incident happened to me as I was using email from my android device in which I dont have to enter my password usually so I litterly forgot what my password was. Thanks to the gmail website they asked me some security questions and my phone number then I got back the control of my account.
I would like give a suggestion to new users that they should set a backup email id and phone number on which the email provider can verify your identity.
Additionally, existing users can printout security codes and can also set two-step verification so that every time you log in they ask for one time password. This will also provide security to your email account.
Last but not the least every user must update their details like phone number, backup phone number and backup email so you can easily retreive your email account.
