There are car magazines. And there is Top Gear. Another example of British motoring journalism at its brilliant best! The Editor, Kevin Blick, is a top bloke, and it reflects in the magazine.
Sharp, cutting-edge, incisive. Top Gear doesnt give you any tosh. It simply says it like it is. A magazine for enthusiasts, BY enthusiasts. And you can tell right away that marketing doesnt tell the Editorial chaps about what to write and what not to write.
They also get all the new cars first. The awesome new Lamborghini Murcielago, for example. Lime green, scary-fast, menacing-huge, and on the cover of Top Gear FIRST. And some of their star correspondents also breathe life into the mag like no one else can. If SuperBike had Suzi Perry, TG have Vicki Butler Henderson, whos quite cool (hot... ;-) really. Then there are Clarkson, and Tiff, who know a bit (!) about writing about cars.
The photography is also top-notch and stories are complemented by excellent pictures of cars in full-blown action. Lamborghinis. Ferraris. Evo VIIs. Impreza P1s. BMWs. Track days. Massive multi-car comparos. Some of the best columns. And the TV tie-in, which, in my opinion, is the BEST thing ever!
Really, if you LOVE cars, read Top Gear. And try to get the British edition rather than the International one...
