Yeah at least mine took a year before it gave up. I have 2 HDs WD and toshiba. too bad I choose to store my important files with my toshiba rather than WD now they are gone. RIP to my files.I’ve had this external hard drive for nearly a year now, it has worked really well, even better than my samsung M3 which lasted for less than a year and actually stopped working. I had to use a program(I forgot which) to recover my files from the samsung hard drive which was why I bought this hard drive. The samsung one works now, but just to be safe I stopped using it. This hard drive hasn’t stopped working at all and it’s been great for me. For people who have had bad experiences with their hard drive, I guess they were the unlucky ones
