Mom Their Alive

This movie has become a classic in our home. My six year old, Brandon, has been in and out of the hospital several times in the past couple of years. Toy story has been present at each and every one of these visits.

I believe that as he lays there and watches the troubles of Buzz and Woody, that he forgets his own problems. There were many days that there was not much to laugh about, but the on going antics between the two characters would keep a smile upon his face.

WOODY

Woody(voice by Tom Hanks) was six year old Andy’s favorite toy. He is a pull string cowboy who was very confident of his role in Andy’s room until the arrival of Buzz. You would always find Woody in charge of things. He would hold regular meetings with the other toys. Before Andy’s birthday party he was reassuring all of the other toys that they were not going to be replaced by any of the new gifts. I guess he did not know what was in store for him. Woody was also the one who wanted to make sure that each toy had a moving buddy for the up and coming family move. You might say that he took care of every one and did not want anyone hurt or left behind.

BUZZ

Buzz(voice by Tim Allen)was Andy’s new favorite toy. At the birthday party Andy received Buzz(a modern day space hero) and all the things that went with him. Soon the room was transformed from a western theme to the space theme of Buzz. If that was not enough, Buzz’s witty charm soon transformed him to the favorite of all the toys. He was soon taking over Woody’s job of caring for the toys. It seemed as though he was doing an even better job.

The events that follow were enough to make anyone laugh.

The beginning of this movie takes place in Andy’s room. The toys come to life each and every time that he leaves the room. As I stated, Woody is the leader of the toys---that is until Buzz comes along. Jealousy consumes him and Woody starts planning ways to get even. During this plot, Buzz gets knocked out of the window and the adventure begins.

The other toys are very angry with Woody and believe that he has killed Buzz. Worse than that, they believe that he has done it on purpose. Andy comes in search of Buzz, but can not find him any where. He settles for Woody. While getting into the car Woody discovers Buzz and they both end up in the car.

An argument ensues and while stopped at a gas station--during a fight--both toys end up out of the car. Woody is heart broken that Andy does not even realize that he is gone. The two toys then must team up and figure out a way to get home.

Together they make their way to the pizza place where the family has gone. Here they get into even more trouble and end up in the hands of Sid--the terrible neighbor child.

Sid, of course, brings them home. This is where he plans to destroy Buzz. Now you would think that this would have made Woody happy, but throughout the whole ordeal they really are becoming friends.

While at Sids house Woody calls on the aide of all of the toys that Sid has maimed to help him. The end result being that he must vow to always be good to his toys. It was comical to see all these strange looking toys come to the aid of Buzz.

Finally the two toys find there way home. The two then work together in the new house. Both have regular meeting of the toys. All is well until
