I’m selling my 2007 Innova’V’(7 seater) and guess what I’m buying?

A 2012 Innova’V’ seven seater!

I suppose there can be no higher compliment to a car that has remained essentially unchanged for the past 7 years.

I live on a farm on the outskirts of Bangalore and the Innova has been my workhorse. Traversing horribly potholed roads almost daily. Carrying passengers, luggage and what have you.

The car has clocked a little over 100, 00 km in primarily city driving but with a number of long distance trips to Chennai and Kerala as well.

Barring bodywork(expensive at the dealership) resulting from a couple of minor accidents, I’ve spent exactly zero on the car beyond the normal recommended service and 10k km oil and filter changes I’ve spent exactly zero on the car.

Dealership work is expensive and in all honesty not really required for normal servicing as oil and filter change can be done anywhere.

However, I feel the computerized service record at Toyota will help with the resale value.

I’ve been offered 7.5 lakhs by the dealership as a trade-in but can reasonably expect 8.5 lakhs in a direct sale. Not too bad for a car that cost me 12.3 lakhs when I bought it(remember these are Karnataka Life Time Tax paid prices).

My new 2012 Innova is costing me 16+Lakhs on the road which I think is too steep a hike in price given that the car is unchanged except for an upgraded entertainment console.

My mileage has remained consistently between 11.5 km/l city driving with AC on to 12.5 km/l highway with AC on.
