*Great Space, Fantastic comfort, Good highway manners are the three
words that can descibe this Car-Oops! A VAN. I am driving this one for
the last 3 months and am absolutely delighted. I took this car out on
weekend trips out of Bangalore.
The most recent one being the trip to Coorg. We were two families( 7
people in all). Innova offers sheer lap of luxury on highways. With all
windows rolled up and the Aircon balsting at full intensity, Innova was
effortless in the ghat roads of Coorg and the rough terrained roads. I
got a mileage of 9KMPL(it is still due for first servicing). Innova is
a great family trooper with loads of space and comfort levels matching
the best of luxury sedans on Indian roads today.
Innova’s diesel engine(I own a D4D, G4 version) is slightly sluggish in
the 3rd and fourth gears. The actual power can be experienced only in
the first and second gears. The 2.5 Litre diesel engine is extremely
torquey which faciltates fewer downshifting of gears especially while
overtaking on a highway.
The car is like a song when driven at 80-90KMPH range and becomes minutely noisy when pushed beyond100KMPH mark.
For those buyers with large families( 4 adults and 3 kids) Innova
offers a perfect balance of space, economy and comfort .At Rs 9.5
Lakhs, On road in Bangalore, Innova is by far the most competitive and
value for money buy.
For those who can afford waiting for an year or so, Innova’s competitor- Mitsubishi Grandis is worth waiting for.
