The Academy Award nominee, Traffic, is a movie that you need to see once, and never view it again. As far as I am concerned, if it wasnt for all the hype, I would have never viewed it.
Michael Douglas was up for an Academy Award for best actor, but for the most part, wasnt in the movie that long. Throughout this movie he tries to help the drug problems of the world, meanwhile his daughter (Erika Christensen) is drug addicted. She is wonderful in her role, as well as Benicio Del Toro. Catherine Zeta-Jones was pregnant throughout the making of the movie, and carried her weight well but her part was also small.
The movie jumped from scene to scene, California to Mexico, and some of the dialog was subtitled. At one point in the movie, I felt like I was watching three different movies at one time.
My dad, who is 76, could not keep up with the subtitles and lost the flow of the movie quickly. He hated it. Cant blame him.
This movie received rave reviews and Academy Award nominations, but for the life of me I cannot figure out why. I am glad that Gladiator won for best picture and best actor. They deserved it.
Dont waste your time going to the theater. Wait for the movie to come out on video and borrow it.
