When my husband and I decided to go on a vacation we happened to check out travelguru.com.Looking back now we believe that these guys have some setup with the hotels that they recommend.A lady called us back promply and asked us our expectations..we were very clear that this was a family vacation and we wanted to be put up in a 3 star hotel.She kept insisting that paradise village at calangude beach was a really good place and that the deal was really a bargain.Well.....unfortunately we fell for it....we booked our vacation.Reality stuck us when we saw the place.the rooms were really tiny, bathrooms unclean, i even saw a cockroach...definately not a 3 star experience.I remember staying at Cidade de Goa for the same rate that we paid for this hotel.After the initial shock wore off..it was replaced by anger.I thought I cant let these guys take me for a ride....so I called them up.The lady who answered the phone made a lot of excuses on how this was peak season(when did july-august ever become peak seasons in Goa??)I told her that the argument was not whether it was peak season or not but why did they lie to me that this was a 3 star hotel...they had no answer to that.She immediately tranfered the call to her supervisor.After I told him this incident he said that he will call up the hotel and ask them for a room upgrade.The hotel guys came running and told us that there was no upgrade available.I must say that the only thing good about that place were the staff.They were extremely attentive and tried their best to keep us comfortable.We had already paid for the entire package so there was nothing we could do.The travelguru guys never bothered to apologise and told us to take up any problems wth the hotel staff.I would advice people to take up a package with this site only if you are positive about the product offered...DONT TAKE ANY CHANCES.
