The TVS Akula 310 is the first fully-faired road-going bike from TVS that was first showcased at the 2106 Auto Expo. The Akula 310 is based on the BMW G 310 R which is manufactured at TVS’s production plant in Chennai. The Akula 310 will get twin head lamps and a completely new rear section with a split seat and an LED tail lamp, inspired by shark fins. Other styling tweaks include clip-ons, new rear view mirrors and a new exhaust end can.The new offering from TVS will also get the BMW G 310 R’s 313cc, liquid-cooled, fuel-injected, single-cylinder motor which makes 34PS of power @ 9, 500rpm and 28Nm of torque @ 7500rpm with a six-speed gearbox. The Akula 310, though, might come in a sportier state of tune. It also gets the BMW G 310 R’s high-spec cycle parts like a steel trellis frame, upside down 41mm telescopic forks, rear monoshock, petal disc brakes and Michelin tyres. It also gets a fully-digital instrument console. The Akula 310 is expected to launch by March 2017 and is expected to be priced under Rs 2 lakh. At this price range, the Akula 310 will face competition from the Honda CBR250R, KTM RC 390 and the upcoming Benelli Tornado 310R.

February 3, 2016: Going by the recent spy shots of a complete test mule, it is safe to asume that TVS’s first fully-faired sportsbike - the Akula 310 - will be launched in a couple of months.
The TVS Akula 310 was unveiled at the 2016 Auto Expo and is essentially a fully-faired entry-level sportsbike based on the BMW G 310 R. The bike utilises the BMW G 310 R’s platform which TVS is currently manufacturing at its Chennai plant as part of a JV. The Akula 310 uses the same 313cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine as the G 310 R and is mated to a 6-speed gearbox. It also uses the G 310 R’s frame and cycle parts but will be tuned for a sporty handling. The Akula 310 is slated for launch by March 2017. When launched, it is expected to be priced under Rs 2 lakh, facing competition from the Honda CBR250R, KTM RC 390 and upcoming Benelli Tornado 310R.
