I purchased Apache RTR 160 in August, 2015. First let me discuss about some technical specification of this bike.
Apache RTR has got basic two models: 160 cc and 180 cc. Within these two models it has many variations like single disc, double disc, ABS etc.
As the name suggest my bike is of 160 cc, to be precise its 159 cc. There are no bike other than Apache which have this unusual cc parameter. Most of the bikes are 150 cc or 180 cc. Apache has an amazing bhp of 14.7 in 160 cc making it the fastest pickup bike.
The 180 cc version has an incredible 17 bhp which is by far the maximum bhp in 180 cc segment. The torque is decent and you wont feel uneasiness while riding up the bridge or hill. The sound of this bike is unique and sometimes it feels like you are riding a smooth bullet 350 cc.
The balance is good, but Pulsar is best. However Apache has some problems; firstly the fuel consumption is comparatively more than that of Pulsar or Unicorn. Although this is the fastest bike but if rode above 80 kmph, you will feel a jerking experience in the handle bar. Secondly, the turning radius is more than than of its competitor brands. In narrow lane it becomes difficult to turn this bike. Otherwise the looks and performance is better than Pulsar 150 cc or Unicorn 150 cc. If you have guts, then you can even beat Pulsar 180 cc in pickup and speed with this bike. Thus it is evident that our Police department is getting Apache 160 cc as their official bikes.
