Scooty EV - Say goodbye to fuel price hike

I was already using an electric two wheeler for the past two years. When I heard about TVS launching Electric Vehicle (EV) I was very much thrilled that a branded reputed company is entering into the worls of EVs. I have went to the show room to see the vehicle.

Seeing the vehicle I was very much impressed. The shape the looks and the body of the vehicle was much appealing compared to other EVs available in the market. Also I think  this was the first one of its kind with an 800 watts motor. (Electric vehicles are rated not with CC but with W).

Another peculiar feature  about this vehicle was it has got thee modes of power/ milage setting with low, medium and high. If you change the switch to low, the power will be on the higher side but the mileage will be less and vice versa.

The vehicle has a good storage space under its seat and also a separate enclosure for keeping the  battery charger. The seats of the vehicle is also long and wide enough to carry two persons.

Moving through the roads the vehicle showed its real face. In normal roads the vehicle’s response was not bad, but  it is not advisable to start with high mode where it is less powered or under powered. Try low or med. But even in small steeps the vehicle was very much disappointing with two persons. You can climb the steep if it is coming from a straight road without stopping. But if once you stopped in the steep, you must say your pillion rider to get down from the vehicle to move it forward.

The vehicle is costing Rs 37000 on road at Trivandrum, but once you bought the vehicle you dont have to spent any money for petrol, oil or lubricants and can run the vehicle a cost of 10 paise per km (dont you think its nice in the increasing fuel prices). But once if the battery goes wrong, you need to replace all the four 12v 20AH batteries which will cost you around 6500 Rupees (dont worry  the battery average life of EVs are more than two years).

This EV will be worthy for  school/ college students and ladies if they are sure that they wont  travel  more than 30 kms a day. (TVS offers 40 kms per charge. As this is in ideal condition we can expect 30Km/charge). But if you want to go above that or if you are a power hungry person please dont buy this vehicle.

Hope this review is useful to you . Thanks for reading my review

Regards,

Deepak
