My requirements from the scooter were for my wife & aged father on the basis of what I analysed the scooty and considered the following products for the same.
1- Size & Weight (95kgs), I found the Scooty Pep Plus (SPP) just right for my wife against 104 kgs of Hero Honda Pleasure (HHP) & 82 kgs of Kinetic Kine (KK).
2- Suspension , only SPP offers front telescopic suspension which is way ahead of the
old ineffective dampers used by rest of the industry ( HHP, KK)
3- Looks - tangy new set of graphics. Dual-tone shades with a racy chequered look on the front apron and rear panels. The grab-rail also now match its body colour. Better than HHP & KK
4- Storage - Very effective front storage . Lockable underseat storage bay with light and offers smart feature that would do well on any such scooterette — a spring at the mounting pivot prevents the seat from accidentally closing at a fuel station and crushing unsuspecting fingers. Intelligent spring loaded front hook for big shopping bags .
5- Innovative features -
a- Key slot is flourescent.
b - Cellphone-charging point.
c- Autolit Storage Bin
d- Spring loaded seat doesnt fall when opned for fuel filling
e- Very easy Main-stand
f - Side stand warning.
6- Power - 5 Horse Power which is just right for 2 people against 7 of HHP and 4.1 of KK. Enough power to carry 2 people comfortably at 50 kmph.
7- Seating - Good enough for mid-size adult.
8- Wheels - 10" Alloy wheels against Steel wheels in HHP and KK.
9- Mileage - 60kmpl - At the outset I felt the slightly smaller engine on the Scooty Pep Plus (87cc) has helped it deliver better mileage than the bigger HHP (102cc) or Bajaj Wave (110cc)
Final - While the previous Scooty Pep wheezed and felt extremely hardpressed with a large payload, the Plus bored-out motor purrs though the same job with aplomb. The Plus retains its light-handling character that keeps it close to a ladys heart and additionally goes a few strides further with convenience features
