Recommend Strong 'No Buy '

This bike turned out to be a complete disappointment in my case. As many users did, I was

browsing through many a reviews for a good 100 CC bike. Finally seeing the huge good will for Star City, I went for it in May 2006 and bought it at Satyaa Motors, Chrompet, Chennai. The worst part is the service. These people never deliver the vehicle within promised time and are least responsive to the customers. I don’t understand how such a popular company can have such an outlet.

Whenever I go for servicing I atleast see a couple of people arguing with the management for the poor service and unreliable delivery dates and I myself had to be one among them whenever I try to get back my vehicle from service. Initially my bike, had starting problem which I managed to get rid off to some extent after the second service. Then more importantly, it was just giving a meager mileage of 45KMPL. The showroom promised 70 atleast.

After repeated complaining right from the first service, the mileage raised to something

around 55-60, that too with Xtra premium petrol. Meantime the speedometer stopped working somehow this was rectified during the third service. After I got it back from them, I was going out that night on a ride and to my horror found that the indicators were not working. I dint know why they messed up with

electrics. Again the next day I went to them, had to forgo the bike for 2 more

days and got it back. Then started the issue with Suspension ..

Whenever I have pillion rider I felt like this bike has nothing as such called suspension and that too on the city roads itself.I highlighted this during my 4th service which did not have any effect. This time they promised me delivery of vehicle within 2 working days, and I could get it back after lot of trouble exactly after a week. But still the problems were not rectified properly. For the 5th service also I had the same list of problems as in 4th service. This time I had an additional problem ..every time when the speedometer reaches 40-45 range, I feel like bike is out of petrol and it would struggle to raise any further even when the tank is full. This time they retained my bike for 4 days this time. Again the same

irresponsible customer service.

The problems remained the same and no one seems to bother if you are complaining to the manager or shouting across the counter. They simply ask to leave your bike for a couple of more days to rectify the problems and just return it as is today.. Good thing is they don’t collect any parking fee for having the bike with them for such long durations..

And each part they had to change in the bike for all the above services, they charged me in full. When you try to ask reasons, they simply argue that those parts are not under coverage.Within a month after I got back from 5th service, the engine started giving too much of noise and at 50 it was too horrible to

bear.

This time I made up my mind to search another dealer and I

found one in Pallavaram – ASR motors. I explained them all my pains with the bike and the suspension problem and the problem with petrol flow when I reach 50kmph. Suspension got little better after getting back from them but this was a short term. The problem was back within a week and same was the case with the petrol flow at 50kmph.I got back to them and asked for replacing the suspension. He agreed for that but while delivering the vehicle, he said that we adjusted the suspension to the best and the problem wont repeat. I was taken aback and questioned them how they can promise on one thing and do some other.. he was assuring me of the performance and asked to bring it back if the problem repeats. I checked it and did not feel that very bad. One good thing about this ASR dealer is that both the times I gave him bike, he gave it back eod itself. Now the suspension is not perfect but manageable. The fuel continuity problem at 50 is gone now but now I have the starting problem again on cards. Just from a couple of days back the indicators were not working , buzzer is not working, neutral indicator is glowing very very dull and the back light doesn’t glow when I apply break. I assume the battery got discharged but again wonder how it can happen to a bike of 1.2 yr age. I am afraid now to give it for service for what bills they make and what new problems it might come up after I get it back…Overall in the 14 month period of owning the bike , I cant say that I had one good trouble free month with it. When I bought, it cost me 40k but after that it surely cost me more pain ....I am not sure of the new version of this bike with ES and alloy wheels but from my experience I recommend a strong “NO Buy” for this bike.
