Hi Guys!!
This is Mahesh from Bangalore. I own a SHOGUN from the past 7 years. I previously had a SUPRA(11 BHP), which is also a good bike, it could match a RX in the top end.. But the low end torque was not as good as a RX. But it was more fuel efficient than a RX n also more reliable.
But!! a shogun is totally a different breed of bike. It is a race horse, it was born to take a RX-100 n it did it in sytle. I am a hard core fan or TVS, they make very good bikes, I sold my Supra n bought a SHOGUN becos of the humiliation I faced when I lost my drags, races with a RX. I wanted a bike which could outperform a RX in all possible ways. The answer was SHOGUN.
This bike boosts a very torquey n responsive engine. It has 14 horses in it armour n can reach 8500 RPM withen seconds, which till date no indian bike has seen including the latest plusar 180. It gallops to 60km in a matter of 4.5seconds making it the fastest bike in india. A pulsar 180 takes 5 seconds to do the same. No CBZ, fiero, Pulsar 180 can come close to it in a 0-60km drag. I have done this test myself. The top speed of a shogun is around 108kmph. On meter it shows 115. The sound of its racing silencer which is nothing but a expansion chamber in disguise forces every body to turn their necks to have a look!!. This bike never lets u down in a drag. It burns rubber n also ur enemies. It is the only bike which has won n number of rallies. Any bike which can perform well in rallies are the bike which are reliable becos a bike is put to test in rallies n shogun came as a absoulute winner. The very sight of shoguns used to make the yamaha guys fume. I have done a lakh on my bike till date no probs!!.
The only bike which can really challenge a shogun is RX-135 (5 speed). But u cant really say becos most of the shoguns are old n the rx 5 speed is new. The shogun runs out of steam at 108, so a pulsar 180 n fiero can catch a shogun at the top end. CBZ is of no use at all except for the looks n features. The mileage of a well maintained shogun should be around 40 to45kmpl when u are crusing a 40 to 50 kmph. The worst is around 28 to 26 when u r on full throttle. The looks are great n at that time it was the only bike with a Tacho. A shogun will make u proud where ever u go.
