This was my Dads first two wheeler. We had the same model(black with yellow and red stripes) as displayed in the profile pic.The vehicle was then used by my mom to go to bank till the time she opted for the much lighter and hassle free and of course more feminish "Sunny Zip".
Since then this beauty stood in a room right at the entrance of our house.
I remember my older brother and myself used to sit on it while on stand and used to pedal it with all our little efforts.the moment we pedaled it with full power the engine used to turn on with a peculiar "dig dig" sound and used to fill the room with sweet petrol scent.Turning it off was by pressing the little black clutch lever on the left hand which was just half the size of the brake lever.(if I remember correctly)
When my elder brother( who is 3 years elder) approached class 8, he started riding TVS 50.Mostly for his karate classes where flaunting style and heroism was really important.Though his excuse used to be tiredness after the clsses for pulling himself home on his "BSA street cat" which melted my parents hearts.
Then came 1995, I was in class 6.Ready to rock and roll.
My elder brother, a daredevil at heart used to allow me to ride TVS 50 all on his own risk in the afternoon when parents had gone to work.I remember taking this moped for watching my first movie alone with a friend "Jurassic Park" that too in class 6.
I also used to fantasize myself as Arnold Swchazneggar of Terminator 2 riding his harley as this moped had the long forklike handle and had great suspensions.
Enough time travelling. As far as specs are concerned.
-This one was a pedal start.
-You could also pedal it like a bicycle in case the petrol got over, though it was quite hard.
-Great suspension, zero maintenance.
-Top speed as marked on the speedometer was 60.But never used to cross 40 even on full throttle.
-Average, around 35-40 KMPL
I remember that this one was sold to a neighbor for 2K.
Though I was against selling it.but still the sound, the feel, the ride is fresh in my mind and ofcourse heart.
