I like to write differently. So what I did with my previous reviews was that I would delude myself into THINKING that I write differently. Though obviously as the much loved readers, raters and commenters of my review would readily testify, I don’t write differently. Anyway, it was a bit hard to fool myself in this category. I thought and thought and really, exactly how creative can one be in a category like this? All you get to do is to list out the songs bang wham one after another until the twentieth then hammer in more words into the pro’s and con’s and then sit tight praying for honest comments.
So yours truly quietly sat about noisily cracking my knuckles on my skull hoping to be struck by a sudden flash of inspiration on how to spice up this otherwise humdrum, wearisome review. None came, neither inspirations, ideas nor iguanas. * Iguanas?! Erm… don’t ask!
So I resigned myself to just get this review out of my head into paper just as it is, naked, with no frills, make up or accessories except a few tiny improvements like counting down from number 20 to 1 and also revising the order of elaboration on each song. Instead of going “title, singer, opinion, lyrics” I decided to talk “title, opinion, lyrics, singer”. Yeah, as if that miniscule difference is going to get me an award for creative diversity.
Now, now, I will stop being so bitterly cynical. Or is it cynically bitter?*
Whatever.
Some stray strand of insanity lurking in my head weaved itself around my thoughts and somehow convinced me to call this list a countdown although it is anything but that. Well, almost. Number 20 till 2 are of equal importance but number one is my current favourite among all the songs.
Oh, and I also included my favourite line from each song.

20. Sunday Morning. Versatility is the winning point for this song. It’s catchy, nice, and Adam Lavine’s(the singer) voice suits the mood perfectly.
“But things just get so crazy living life gets hard to do”
Maroon 5.
19. You’re beautiful. This song, just like the title, it beautiful. There is no other word for it. The lyrics are indescribable and exquisitely simple.*“There must be an angel with a smile on her face,
When she thought up that I should be with you.”
James Blunt.*
18. White Flag. It’s a nice song, made amazing by Dido’s versatile voice
“But if I didnt say it, Well, Id still have felt it, Wheres the sense in that?”
Dido.
- Ordinary. This was among the songs in the soundtrack album of Spiderman 2.
“Everybody seems to be getting what they need, Wheres mine?”
Train*
- Somewhere I belong. Ah, the perfect angry song. Love it! *“Looking everywhere only to find
That it’s not the way I had imagined it all in my mind”
Linkin Park*
- Feel. The British bad boy does it again with another emotional, heart felt song.
“Cause I got too much life, running through my veins, going to waste.”
Robbie Williams.
14.See It In a Boy’s Eyes.I have never liked any of her songs(not even Superstar) but this one is too good to be missed. “Theres a sun in my sky, u dont see it, you dont even try “ *
Jamelia.*
13.Superman.I got obsessed with this after getting my grubby little fingers on the sheet music online and playing it out on the piano. This one’s a winner because of its singing.
“Even Heroes have the right to bleed, Even Heroes have the right to dream” Five For Fighting. *
- Like A Stone. One word: acoustics.
“I confess I was lost in the pages of a book”
Audioslave*
11.Everytime I Look At You. A song from the rising genre popera, a cross between pop and opera.
“Then every moment were apart
Will be a lifetime to my heart”
Il Divo *
- We Be Burnin. The His sing-saying is the great thing the way the words just flow after one another.
Who else than… Sean paul!
- Pon De Replay.
Can you believe that she is only 17? This number would make you want to get up and start dancing along to the music.
“Let the bass from the speakers run through ya sneakers
Move both ya feet and run to the beat”
Rihanna
- Fix you. Really good, that’s all I’ve got to say. And part of the lyrics are plastered somewhere among the clusters of words in the About Me in my profile page.
“When you get what you want, but not what you need
When you feel so tired, but you cant sleep”
Coldplay.
- Don’t Bother.
She’s back with her new album Oral Fixation2. If you notice something, with her comeback she has stopped wearing so much make up like she used to last time. Anyway, don’t bother doesn’t impress me because it was sung melodiously. It catches my attention coz it is so natural and comes from the heart. She sounds absolutely drunk with weird voice and out of control vocals.
“And after all Im glad that Im not your type
Promise you wont ever see me cry”
Shakira.
- In The Shadows. Addictive.
“Sometimes, I just wanna go and play with the thunder”.
The Rasmus
- Dirty Little Secrets. Dirty little secrets: we’ve all got one. The video features people from all walks of life holding up index cards with their ‘secrets’ written on it for the camera to see.
”Ill keep you my dirty little secret
Dont tell anyone or youll be just another regret”
All American Rejects.*
4.Look What You’ve Done.Sad. Completely, utterly, wholeheartedly sad.
Cause all thats left has gone away
And theres nothing there for you to prove”
JET.*
- Boyfriend. It’s the type of song that will keep playing in your head the whole day.
“Hey, how long till the music drowns you out?”
Ashlee Simpson.*
2.Desert Rose. The enchanting chanting in the background is what makes this song hauntingly special and specially haunting. The words in this song are almost incorrigible; they are so stretched out and stuck to each other.
“Sweet desert rose, This memory of hidden hearts and souls.”
Sting*

Goodbye My Lover is so beautiful, so touching, so sad, so sweet that I dare say I like it more than You’re Beautiful. *
