My top songs ! (the ones a few years back)

Well, I have had a lot of fave songs. They have been chnaging with respect to time. First, when I was around 13-14 years old, I had this craze of  boyband music.(yeah, you heard me right!) I used to listen to BSB and boyzone and the occasional Savage garden and George Michael. Then in the age 15-16, I was crazy about rock music as in the likes of aerosmith and jon bon jovi. Then I hit age 17 and was it the stress that got to me which led to me rap and heavy metal music obssesion. Now my stereo table is cluttered with CD’s and MC’s of Eminem, Marlyn Manson, Limp Bizkit, DMX, 2-Pac( May his soul rap in peace), Mettlica, Crazy Town and the likes. My PC has a collction of over 1500 rap MP3’s and 800+ heavy metal MP3’s. But through all these stages, Bryan Adams kinda remained constant on my stereo table. Not because I am a crazy fan of his. I just can’t take away his music from my table. So I wll rate my top twenty songs in 3 seperate lists of 5, 5 and 10. Remember that the first 2 lists hold no relevance now(except 2-3 songs) but I used to be crazy about them when I was 13-16 years old. So I will start with the 13-14 year old period.

The Era Of the BoyBands -

1) Backstreets Back - Now tell me who has not heard this song. It’s a song by the backstreet boys and it was a hit overnight. The catchy music and the lyrics( though meaningless) coupled with the trendy and stylish video ensured the success of this song. This song is still doing the rounds in some of my friends party. So you can guess how popular it was!

2) Quit Playing Games - I guess this was the song which launched the BSB into the big leauge. This is a kinda slow song with a steady beat where they ask thier gf or wife or thier cat or dog to stop playing games with thier heart. This though gained success gradually and not suddenly like Backstreets Back. The video of this was shot in a place where it was raining and the group was standing barechested as if they were the * The Incredible Hulk * or something!

3)Words- This is a song I still enjoy. Though it is cover version. I think this is better than the original. It used to be kinda our Class Anthem. We once were made to sing this song for our seniors. It was so crappy singing the song. Kinda too deep for me the lyrics, ex:- * It’s only words and words are all I have to take your heart away * . Nevertheless,  a great song!

4)Something about the way - This is the song  by Elton John, oops sorry, Sir Elton John. I think it was released as a double with’Candle in the Wind’. Believe Me, You can blow your beloved off her feet by singing( if you don’t sound like a broken gramaphone player) this song to her. ’ There’s something about the way you look tonight, takes my breath away’. Does it get more flattering?

5) Wannabe- This was the debut single by Spice Girls.( BTW where are they now?) . It was the song which launched them to superstardom and was a instant hit. It had broken all the records at that time. The song was really catchy at the beginning but you got bored of it soon. Nevertheless a hit song and got a lot of airtime and stuck around in the disco circuit for quite some time. But I liked the video more than than the song!

The Era of the Rock Bands -

1) Pink - It was a song by Aerosmith. The song was ultimately funny and the video was a complete riot. Take a look at the lyrics of this song and you will understand. Ex- * Pink is the color of Flamenco* and * Pink, Its my favouraite crayon *. The video of this song still makes me laugh and this song I still enjoy. It is not your usual rock song, believe me!

2)Cocaine- This is a sort of a Anthem by now. It was  played by the legendary Eric Clapton .(Who better than him for this song!). I still have not been able to catch half of the lyrics of this song. Though  the guitar is very catchy and the one thing I love about this song is the way he says’Cocaine’. The best part of the song undoubtedly. I heard that he has stopped touring now. Is that true?

3)We Will Rock You - Don’t tell me that you have not heard this song. This song is probably the greatest song by queen. The song is just around 2 mins. But are those 2 mins good or are they good! The drum beats had become a rage in our class and we used bang the benches with the same beats. But I prefer the newer version of this song which has some real neat guitar!

4)Another Brick in the Wall - This was once motha’ of a song. One of the hardest hitting lyrics I have heard in conventional rock. It goes * We dont need not education* and then * Hey teacher, Leave us kids alone *. The video was a masterpiece. I guess this is the best song of Pink Floyd to date!

5)That Thing You Do - It is the OST of the movie of the same name. Hey is this song by a group which was really named the Wonders? I’ve tried to get this song but have managed to get only the cover version. I think this song is in the fav list of many persons. Still enjoy the song and the music and the lyrics are so catchy. After you see the movie, the song is irresistible.

I will write the next list in 3-4 days, there are too many fav songs at this time and I have to select ten of them. I will let you know when I write the next list
