Since my childhood, I had an inclination towards good tunes and soulful music. I am up for anything that sounds pleasant to my ears. I maintain that songs and therefore music could be in any language or type for them to be appreciated, if there are worthy of them.
In my school and college days, even though I performed well in my academics, I had always been a back- bencher and I am proud to say that! I hope none of my teachers are reading this article! If they are, then please accept my respectful greetings. I am talking about some boring lectures especially the mathematics lectures! I always got this impression that many of the back-benchers are the most intelligent and talented lot with great potential! During a typical boring lecture, we used get together and sing away to glory for the pretty girl sitting in the front bench or about our about our future- there were always some good tabla(desk!) players and many singers.hmmm.it was very exciting to say the least!
It was during our school and college picnics when the talent used to come out in the open and mesmerize our fellow classmates and teachers!
I believe preference towards music is something very personal and the choices may vary. And obviously, if you invite me over for your birthday party, I probably would gift you a song collection album of your choice rather than mine! Aha, nah, I am not asking to gift me a cassette consisting of songs of my choice(though I wouldn’t mind it at all!), as my birthday is far away in the month of August! So relax;-)
So, dear fellow Msians, I am making an effort to list down my top twenty all time favorite Hindi movie songs. Please note that they are not ranked, as I think that to rank them would be rather unfair. Being an avid listener of Hindi music, I know that selecting just twenty songs is bit difficult, however, dear readers, I hope to do my best in selecting my top twenty! Here we go:
1) Ho gaya hain tujko to pyar sajna
and
Rukja oo dil dewaane from Shah Rukh Khan’s Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jaayenge, my all time favorite movie, probably yours too?:-)

and
Madhosh dil ki dharkan from Salman Khan’s Jab Pyar Kisi Se Hota Hain. A must have album according to me!
3) Mujhe raat din bas mujhe chahati ho from Akshay Kumar’s Sangharsh
which sounds like being influenced from
Mujhe dekhkar aaka muskuraana from Joy Mukherjee’s Ek Musafir Ek Hasina.
4) Ek roz main tadap kar, is dil ko tham loonga, mere haseen qaatil, main tera naam loonga from the movie Bemisaal starring Amitabh Bacchan showering an egoistic appeal to the woman!

and
Katthai aakhon wali ek ladki from Shah Rukh Khan’s Duplicate. Simply amazing songs with fast notes yet so peaceful!

10) Woh jo kaha tha maine woh kar dikhaya na, baazi oo jaan dil ki main jeet laya na
and
Bin tere sanam from Aasif Sheikh’s Yaara Dildaara. This album and especially the second song sold like hot cakes in the early ‘90s, though the movie didn’t too well! Music director duo Jatin- Lalit’s first venture and what a start!
11) Arre re yeh kya hua from Shah Rukh Khan’s Dil To Paagal Hain. Love is full of sweet surprises, ain’t it?!
12) Humko aawaz de, tu kahan hain sanam

Yeh lamhe yeh pal hum from from Anil Kapoor’s Lamhe. A great ‘one of a kind movie’ with wonderful songs. A movie which I saw with classmates, teachers and the principal at Khandala.would you believe it!
These songs that I have chosen have a have a special place in my heart. I would actually go on to say that I can relate to them in different ways- be it the song I used to sing with my best buddies or the song that I sang for ‘her’ or the song that I hum when I am sad, happy or lonely!
I am sure, dear readers, that you probably like atleast a song or two from this list. I hope you have enjoyed reading this review as much as I am enjoyed penning it down!
Musically, Chhail Chhabila:-)
