The music of tears

Sorrow is perhaps the most beautiful emotion created by God.especially when someone’s sorrow flows out from someone else’s eyes.

Music is perhaps the most beautiful art created by God.especially when it tells you about the most beautiful emotion.

THE REVIEW

P.S- I am giving only ten choices, as giving twenty will need much more than 8000 characters.

I had been planning to write under this topic for a long time. But a hopelessly busy schedule ensured that I do not write on it. Finally, today, I am free and hence decided to jot down the gems which have always struck a tragic chord in my heart. I have not done any homework on this one, and hence am writing down the songs as and when they come to mind. It is quite possible that I may miss some deserving gems.

1. Jaane kahaa gaye wo din(Mera Naam Joker)

They say that Mukesh was the ultimate in sad songs. How true they were! Listen to his nasal voice pierce your heart in this superb melody composed by the charismatic duo Shankar Jaikishen. I can never ever forget the solo violin piece which always succeeds in making me nostalgic. Superb lyrics by Shailendra.

2. Zindagi ka safar(Safar)

Sung by my favourite singer Kishore Kumar, this song composed by Kalyanji-Anandji, always makes me feel sad. Full points to Indeevarji for such superb https://lyrics. The same film had another touchy sad song Hum thay jinke sahaare, sung soulfully by Lata Mangeshkar.

3. Jindagi ke safar mein(Aap ki kasam)

The wizard of film lyrics Anand Bakshi captured the essence of the character in this song. Superbly tuned by R.D.Burman, this song successfully conveys the feelings of a repenting husband who lost the companionship of a good wife due to his own jealousy. Great rendering by the inimitable Kishore Kumar.

4. Badi sooni sooni hain(Mili)

Experience the magic of music. Drown in the world of https://lyrics. This song has the ability of pulling the listener in a trance. I am indeed very fortunate to be counted among the friends of Yogeshji, who wrote this fantastic song. Tuned by the great S.D.Burman, this song was soulfully rendered by Kishoreda.

5. Jaaye to jaaye kahaan(Taxi Driver)

One of my personal favourites of all time, the pathos in this tune is indeed remarkable. Tuned by S.D.Burman, and lyrics by Sahir Ludhianvi. Truly, a great song!

6. Chingari koi bhadke(Amar Prem)

All the songs in this album were superb. If asked to name my ten best R.D.Burman albums, I am sure to have this right there at the top. And particularly, this song! The guitar notes pierce your heart. The voice of Kishore Kumar elevates the sorrow. The lyrics mesmerize you. What a song!

7. Sapna Mera Toot gaya(Khel Khel Mein)

The mukhda of this song was a straight lift from the tune Life of a soldier from the film The Good, the bad and the ugly. But in the hands of Pancham, this tune attained salvation. The antara was freshly composed and is bound to jolt you. What a composition! Superbly rendered by Asha Bhosle and Pancham himself. Lyrics were by Gulshan Bawra.

8. Paani Paani re(Matches)

What a song! It grows on you. Hats off to Vishal for composing such a brilliant tune. Beautiful lyrics by Gulzarsaab.

Paani Paani re, khaare paani re,

Naino mein bas jaa, neende khaali kar jaa.

9. Tere Bina jindagi se(Aandhi)

I am sure that this song must be on the favourites list of most of the Indians. Superb tune R.D.Burman and fantastic lyrics by Gulzarsaab.

Tere bina jindagi se koi shikwa to nahi, shikwa nahi, shikwa nahi, shikwa nahi.

Tere bina jindagi bhi lekin jindagi to nahi, jindagi nahi, jindagi nahi, jindagi nahi.

Mind blowing!

P.S.- *I just have one more choice left, and I can think of so many more deserving songs. Damn this MS limit! Anyway, let me take a cigarette break to decide which out of those hundreds truly deserves this spot. Milte hain Break ke baad.

Ok.that was a good drag. Now.for the last gem in this list.

10. Aye mere vatan ke logon(Non-Filmi)

I am taking this liberty for mainly two reasons. One is that the topic does not mention only bollywood songs. Secondly, no list can be complete without this song. A song that will touch every Indian heart. A song that makes us look within ourselves, and is a true homage to all those sons of India, who placed their country before themselves. Composed by veteran composer C.Ramchandra, and sung intensely by none other than the queen of Indian music Lata Mangeshkar, this song was beautifully penned by Kavi Pradeep.

Aye mere vatan ke logon, tum khoob lagaa lo naara,

Hain shubh din aaj ye aaya, lehra lo tirangaa pyaara,

Par mat bhoolo seema par, veeron ne hain praan gavaaye,

Jara yaad unhe bhi kar lo, jo laut ke ghar naa aaye.
