20 great rock songs. in no real order.

After glancing through some other opinions and cringing at some choices the others made, I figured I might as well give this thing a shot. These can’t be in order because I change my mind every 15 minutes. There is twenty of them though, so enjoy.

Led Zeppelin . Over the Hills and Far Away

this song never fails to put me in the best mood ever. for this reason it is one of my favorite zeppelin songs. Seriously, try and listen to it without smiling. you can’t do it.

The Beatles . Eleanor Rigby I suck at explaining my reasons. basically, I enjoy this song for the lyrics and because it’s so different from the beatles music my mom used to play for us when we were little.

Kansas . Carry on my Wayward Son

I heard a foo fighters cover of this song and it made me laugh like nobody’s business. no one knew the words. but isn’t that really the case? I don’t know the words either. but I make them up as I go. and then at the end I scream out’don’t you cry no more!’ also this makes me want to learn how to play the guitar.

Grateful Dead . Casey Jones

a list without the grateful dead is not a list.

Pink Floyd . Great Gig in the Sky

this was voted the best song to have sex to in Australia. actually the whole’dark side of the moon’ album should be up here, but this isn’t an album list it’s a list of songs.

Elton John . Daniel

something about 70s elton john just melts my heart.

CCR . Fortunate Son

I hope no one actually reads these terribly boring comments i’m making. sometimes I believe listening to CCR will actually transport me back in time. I worship this song. that’s all there is to it.

Eric Clapton . Cocaine

This is a rock CLASSIC. can you say cocaine on the radio? you must be able to.

Dire Straits . Sultans of Swing

me and my brother used to perform this as an airband in the kitchen. i’m pretend to sing and he would play the air guitar. we were like 12 and 10 years old. I changed the lyrics to’You check out Guitar Josh he knows all the chords’. to sum it up, dire straits are gods. my copy of their best of CD almost has holes in it.

Rolling Stones . Under my Thumb / Sympathy for the Devil

I couldn’t choose just one Rolling Stones song for my list. so I picked two, and they’re quite different it’s strange. under my thumb is eerie and haunting. sympathy for the devil makes you dance. what a perfect combination.

ELO . Telephone Line

I just like it. no stories for this one.

David Bowie . Ziggy Stardust

probably my favorite bowie song. it’s quite hard to choose though. i’m more a fan of the 70s than the 80s, obviously.

Derek and the Dominos . Layla

i’m trying to keep it so each artist appears only once, which is why I put this version and not the clapton version. it’s about even love for both from me though.

The Who . Pinball Wizard / Who are You

I love how both CSI shows use the who as their opening song. this brings me extreme joy. supposedly’pinball wizard’ is jack black’s favorite Who song. but this information is provided by my ex boyfriend, who has a habit of lying, so I can’t be too sure.

Fleetwood Mac . Go Your Own Way

picking only one fleetwood mac song hurt a lot because I am a HUGE fan. but, this was the first fleetwood mac song I remember hearing, and I remember how I fell instantly in love with it. so it wins.

Lynyrd Skynyrd . Freebird

beautifully sad. I love songs that make you feel like looking at old photos and reading old love letters.

Queen . Bohemian Rhapsody

when I was in Japan I heard someone karaoke this. I didn’t know this song could ever sound bad. but it does while being sung by a 45 year old japanese business man who doesn’t speak english.

The Zombies . Time of the Season

what movie is this in? probably every movie ever. but it’s one of those songs that makes you feel like you’re in a movie also. I love it. and I LOVE the https://lyrics.

Iron Butterfly . In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida

I saw the simpsons where they rename this song’in the garden of eden’ and it’s played at the church. also remember when it was on Home Improvement when tim pretended to be an alien? yah. 17ish minutes of goodness, that’s what this is.

Violent Femmes . Blister in the Sun picking the last song was the hardest thing I have done all day. there are so many more I want to be on this list. but then the list would never end and I could never post it’s greatness. last year I used to phone the radio every saturday from work and ask them to play me this song. they never did.
