Forget Me Not

This movie is not about you or me; it’s about HUM as a

couple! A film, which deals with a very sensitive aspect of married life -

commitment. The tagline is apt: “The greatest journey in life is the distance

between two people.” How well Ajay(Ajay Devgan) makes you travel this journey

with him and Peeya(Kajol).

*Directorial debut of Ajay and what a coincidence it has a prominent relation to Aamir

Khan’s directorial debut******Taare

Zameen Par**. Both carrying an awareness message about a medical

aliment TZP had dyslexia awareness and this one Alzheimer disease.

Movie

Ajay and Peeya meet on a cruise. He is a psychiatrist on a holiday with his friends

one unhappily married while the other happily unmarried. Peeya is a waitress on

the cruise. The entire story is told in flashback. The beginning is very

confusing and you feel lost as to the person sitting in front of Ajay is Peeya

or double role etc. etc. Ajay falls for Peeya on first sight and tries all

means to woo her to the extent of breaching her room and reading her list of Possibilities

(likes and dislikes). All this pays off and soon both are couple, in between

one can notice clues on the main story line.

Things take a u turn as Ajay confesses to peeya the means he

had adopted to woo her. Peeya puts an end to the relationship later to realize that

she misses Ajay and they get married. All in all the first half of the movie is

a bit drag.

The second half is very comprehensively tied with detailing

and is loaded with emotions. The happily married couple come to know on a rainy

day that Peeya is not able to recall her husband’s name, her address etc. They

visit a doctor who reveals that she is suffering from Alzheimer. The rest of

the movie is their fight against the same.

The movie begins and ends on the cruise, twenty-five years

later, thus showing that it may not always be smooth sailing in a marriage

Two scenes are power packed with emotion: one when Ajay is called

by doctor to the care facility when Peeya realizes herself and second when he

goes to get her back.

Conclusion

I feel that at places camera could have been placed at different

angle’s(too close up at places), the movie could have been a bit short and the

time spent in weaving the puzzle could have been reduced. The topic is has been

used a lot in English movies but all credits to the director that there is freshness

in treatment. I find both of them have done a very good job and so the

supporting cast. I like Sumit for his very natural acting.

It’s a good movie to watch.
