Uber - the great american cab service provider with multi-billion dollar valuations as we know hardly spends on print advertisements. It has established itself in the various countries by word of the mouth. Plus, by providing various schemes like refer a person and get a ride free, get 1st ride free, etc. A few months back on being invited by a friend I decided totry the service.
Being the 1st ride, it was free to the extent of Rs. 300/-. The coupon code was applied and it was stated in the app that I would get a discount of upto 300/-. One click of a button and the cab arrived within 10 minutes. No more haggling with the cab-wallas. The whole trip seemed good enough. But, as they say all good things must come to an end. To my surprise, after the completion of the ride, I got a messsage that my paytm wallet was deducted with Rs. 186/-! On contacting the customer care all they had to say was SORRY there’s nothing that we can help you with and that we can’t refund you the money!
Not a huge sum of money that I would regret losing. But, still speaks volumes about the company of this stature!
So, people think twice before hopping in the "FREE" ride.
