Udaipur, known as the Venice of the East, was voted the world’s best city for travellers in 2009 in an online poll by Travel + Leisure magazine, trumping last year’s winner Bangkok.
Thumbs up to surprises as at times planned plans fail…..thatz how our Udaipur trip happened to us. We attempted twice earlier but failed, first half way thru our journey in month of February we met with an accident and second time chose
This as our anniversary celebration destination over Udaipur in April month as its then too hot there. This time too we dropped the idea to holiday there (swine flu terror) during independence weekend, but thanks to my husband’s mood swing and we packed for Udaipur @ night 10.
We enjoyed the night drive which was interspersed with drizzle to heavy rains. Thanks to beautiful 4 lane highway and his passion for driving, in exact 4hrs we were there. Our first point of visit in city was Doodh Talai:-A small pond again in the middle of hills(dried out) where two beautiful gardens are maintained named as Manik Udhyan & Din dayal Upadhyay Udhyan.
