Udta Punjab-the title explains it all. From the rolled up sleeves ready for action to the accustomed lingo of the characters which made them belong to Punjab.
The film revolves around so called Gabru(the man) Tommy Singh(Sahid Kapoor) who can’t even think of spending a second without fuelling himself with coke so like his range rover.
But all has its expiry date. And when it hit Tommy he came across Mary Jane or may be a metaphor for marijuana(Alia Bhatt) who sows us the fighting spirit to arouse from the dark. Sartaj Singh(Diljit Dosanjh) a cop who knows nothing about the condition of Punjab till it becomes personal. On the other hand Dr Prity Sahni(Kareena Kapoor Khan) runs a clinic to save the drug hit people. The film is a message for both the youths and the government as to where they stand. It is not only about the misery of Punjab turning to Mexico, it is about overcoming from the drugs.
