So here we go after lots of hurdles Udta Punjab makes it to theatre and director Abhishek Chaubey takes us to different world of Punjab, which most of us were unaware of till we watch this Movie. We know Punjab as land of fiver rivers, wheat and wrestlers but we have different side of reality as well which is heroin, opium, cocaine.
Film revolves around four characters Alia Bhatt(girl from Bihar), Shahid(Tommy Singh, the Rock star), Kareena Kapoor(doctor, working on drug victim rehabilitation) and Diljit Dosanjh(Punjab Police inspector). Film shows connection of drug mafia and local politicians and issues which Punjab youth is facing due to drug addiction.
This film was made in both documentary and mainstream approach, hence few people may not like the second half of this movie which moves bit slow. To add, this is not a regular Bollywood masala movie. This is a dark movie dealing with real issues, however director has ensured that audience feel empathise with each characters.
Character roles done by Sathish Kaushik, Manav Vij and Prabhjyot Singh is add-on for the film.
Acting by Alia and Shahid as a Drug victim steals the shows, they are at their best in this movie.
My verdict, go and watch this for the performance done by all actors and to see whats the real issue behind drug addicted Punjab.
