I couldn’t disagree with the reviewer more about the acting. Shahid was fantastic and brought the most magic to his role and Alia was terrible as always.
She is too shallow an actor to carry these kind of roles though she looks just right. The movie has its moments and is quite darkly funny in parts but is quite ordinary overall. A wasted opportunity.
This movie could have been great, cannes and oscar material but there were certain segments where the director tried hard to make this film more of an entertainer than a drama with a very strong message. I mean, it’s not that Udta Punjab isn’t good but it could have been great, and it missed by half a mile.
