Everyone believes their house should be a haven from the stress of living in this world. I know I did. I understand if you are caring for children or aging parents this is not often possible. I remember escaping to my bathroom, locking the door, turning on some music and having a long bubble bath. So there was always somewhere in my home that was my haven.
When we moved to Victoria, British Columbia we wanted to live by the water. I knew I was allergic to snow mold, (that is only in colder climates) and kelp but I wasnt going to swim in the water near our home nor was I going to heat anything that has kelp in it.
We moved here 3 years ago and every time we have a gale I do get a headache and my nose runs. Gales dont happen that often and I didnt want to move so I ignored what was happening as I felt the kelp was being borne inland with the high winds.
I ignored the foods I seemed to have developed an allergy to, the ‘tickish’ cough that came and went, my nose dripped and I had sinus headaches. My doctor prescribed a new type of allergy pills that you cannot become addicted to.
Then twice I though I was having a heart attack because my chest got so thigh. My doctor sent me to the emergency area of the hospital as he thought I was having one as well. Both times they checked everything and told me my problem was stress. Once they checked my lungs because I still smoke and the doctor brought in the x-ray for me to see. When I asked what I was looking at the doctor replied, The healthiest set of lungs Ive ever seen from a person that smokes. So that made me feel a bit better.
I became very concerned when I got a rash that was below my skin and I went to see my Doctor.
I could not believe it when he told me I was allergic to my home! The allergy was caused my mold in the carpet, drafts and the walls. I wanted to move immediately but he calmed me down because he told me in the mold was everywhere and unless we wanted to live in another city I should forget that.
Im happy that in British Columbia many doctors believe in alternate medicines if they believe it will help their patient.
He suggested I go to a Health Store and find a pill that was calledNorth American Herb & Spices Oregacyn. I asked him why and he told me that it containeddessicaed extracts of cinnamon, cumin, P73 oil of oregano, rosemary and sage. He said this would help protect my body from both bacterial and fungus molds.
I was told to take one or two tablets a day for a month, (I only took one a day), and then once a week forever.
This happened 3 months ago and all of the new symptoms I developed since moving to Victoria, (I still am allergic to kelp so gales bother me), have not happened again.
We are renters so we could not take up the carpet, improve the drainage or reduce the humidity in our basement, bathroom or walls.
We bought a humidifier and add a few drops ofOil of Oregancyn to it each week. We also use three drops in our rinse cycle when we wash our cloths.
SOME THOUGHTS:
If your have many of the symptoms I had please go to your doctor see if mold might be causing your problems.
I am very happy with what my doctor recommend.
