WATER-the base of life. Just drink it.

The WATER is an obligatory component of human body. The philosophical concept used in previous centuries’everything is made up of water’ proves perfect here. This is a review telling u about the importance of water for human body.

Human body consists of 70% of water(from 55 to 75) which is called as total body water. It includes the intracellular and extracellular fluid contents of water.Body water is higher in men than in women and falls in both with age.

Functions of water in human body i.e.uses of water:

1)Maintain the health and integrity of every cell in the body.

2)Help to eliminate toxins(such as those found in tea, coffee, alcohol, refined foods and soft drinks) through urine and faeces.

3).Aid digestion and prevent constipation.

4)Regulate body temperature through sweating.

5)Helps maintain adequate blood volume

6)Acts as an appetite suppressant Is calorie-free Boosts metabolism when drunk cold(we burn 2 calories per glass as we warm it up to body temperature)

7)It has many other uses like acting as lubricant, helps medication to work, prevents infections, acts as medium for all chemical reactions, acts as shock absorber, carry nutrients to cells etc.

How much water we should drink daily:

to be on the safe side we should drink at least 1.5 litres, which is 2.5 pints, of liquid.but we should drink about 2 liters of water per day.i.e. about 8 glass fulls of water each day.

*Water loss from the body:

*Body looses water by respiration.sweating, water loss through urine and through feces etc.

The minimum figures for the body’s daily water loss are 500ml through urine and 700ml through breathing and sweating.

It would appear that most people do not drink enough water. The classic signs and symptoms include:

= Headaches

= Poor concentration

= Tiredness

= Increased risk of developing kidney infections, and

= Constipation.

*Water as the base of life:

*we can live without food till 3 weeks but with out water for only 3 days.

High water - containing food:

#apples #grapes #tomato soup #sweet corn #broccoli.

*Some special points:

*Drinking water before eating can help you lose weight.

Causes of dehydration:

1)drinking less water.2)water loss by increased sweating in hot climate, endocrinal problems, dysentery.

Chronic mild dehydration and poor fluid intake can:

1)Increase the risk of kidney stones and constipation

2)Increase the risk of urinary tract cancers, breast and colon cancers,

3)Increase the risk of childhood obesity

Tips to prevent dehydration:

Drink plenty of fluids: Drink plenty of water.Avoid caffeinated beverages and alcohol; both may cause dehydration Avoid carbonated beverages; the carbonation may cause bloating or a feeling of fullness and prevent adequate consumption of fluids)Diminish physical and mental performance, salivary gland function.

*General:

*Also its better to drink normal drinking water rather than mineral water.as the mineral water contains minerals like sodium, spring water, salts and carbon dioxide, it can increase the risk of blodd pressure in elder people.Mineral waters that are sweetened and flavoured are more or less equivalent to regular soft drinks as far as kilojoule content and artificial additives are concerned.

Additional:

water also keeps you fresh, gives a fresh feeling.

*Precaution to be taken:

*It is almost impossible to drink to much water, although if large volumes of water are taken in a short space of time it can provide short lived symptoms similar to being drunk.so dont drink too much of water at single time.

*Some variations:

*The water requirements, water contents and water loss is different in men, women and children.so some values can have changes according to the sex.also the daily water requirements for children is less.

Moral:

The moral is drink plenty of drinking water every day and be fit and fine.
