Staying healthy means eating healthy food. You can stay healthy by eating fruits, whole grains and vegetables, which are all excellent source of fiber. Choose more grains like bread, pasta and rice, dried beans and peas, fruits and vegetables. Plan healthy tasty meals like baked beans and brown bread or rice and bean casserole. You can use different spices to bring out the taste of different nutrients in them.
Just eating healthy food is not enough. You have to drink 8 to 10 glasses of water per day.
For breakfast, you can have a high fiber cereal, with a cup of skim milk and a fruit of your choice. Fresh fruit smoothie is also good. You just blend a banana, a strawberry, 1/2 cup of vanilla yogurt or plain yogurt(curd)and half cup skim milk with ice. For people in India, I know, it is hard to get strawberries. You can go for any other fruit such as guava or mango.
For lunch, you can have a vegetable sandwich, made of whole grain bread, topped with cucumber slices, tomatoes, lettuce, onions or any other desired vegetable.
Dinner can consist of rice, a cupful of cooked vegetables steamed or raw and a piece of cooked lean meat if you are a non-vegetarian.
You can choose lower fat dairy products, leaner meats, and foods prepared with little or no fat. Stir-frying, microwaving or broiling are all methods to cook faster, healthier food.
Limiting the amount of salt, alcohol, and caffeine you use
will be very good healthwise.
