Packing for your vacation/holiday

Well, you’ve come to the right place for tips on how to pack for a vacation.  I am the queen of’we can fit it all in 1 suitcase’

Step 1-Make a list of everything you are going to want for your trip.

Step 2-Throw out that list, start again and write everythng you are really going to need for your trip.

Step 3-Find the biggest suitcase the airline or ship or bus will allow!  You know you are going to overpack.

Step 4-Take a break!  Time for a cup of tea.

Step 5-OK, back to packing.

OK OK OKFor real now.

The easiest way for you to begin packing is to really think about what you will need and write it down before you begin.

Think about where you are going, the weather, and what you’ll be doing.

I find it helpful to begin my list with personal items first.  Then I start with the top of my body and work down.  For example, I begin by notating jackets, blouses and sweaters, I move down to skirts, pants, shorts etc.

I usually pack my flat items first.  Pants and shorts stay nice and unwrinkled if folded only once, in half and laid flat in the suitcase.  Next I place nightwear in.(no big deal if these get wrinkled) I then fold my skirts, dresses and blouses loosely.  Fold only enough to fit into your suitcase.  Never fold into small bundles.  Remember, the less you fold the less wrinkles you will wind up with.  I then fill in the spaces in the suitcase with my undergarments.

The next items I pack are personal items.  Such as shampoo, deodorant, toothpaste etc.  I place these items into plastic bags(In case anything spills or opens) and fit these items into any open spaces left in my suitcase.

Lastly, I pack my shoes(each shoe in a plastic bag, so not to dirty clothing)and place the shoes along the edges of the suitcase.  I usually pack only 1 shoe in each plastic bag to make it easier to fit into any remaining open areas of suitcase.

My jacket or sweater I usually carry with me along with a small’carry-on’ bag containing my tickets, papers, money etc.

I like to travel light and very rarely will I ever overpack.  I have travelled to many places, by car, train, bus, ship and airplane and I never have a problem with clothes wrinkling.

Well, these are my suggestions.  They work for me.  And now.Step 6-It’s time for another cup of tea!
