We decided we’d check out Utsav - it was a Saturday evening (April 8, 2006)-- it seems to be doing ok and given the limited choice in Powai..
What we landed up was a huge mess - after being made to wait for about half an hour, we finally managed a table. The waiting of course did not end there -- it took another 15 minutes for the waiter to come.
At least thrice we needed to change our order as the item on the menu was simply ’’unavailable’’. The food was uninspiring - to say the least. We had ordered kebabs thinking they would be better than the standard gravy stuff... but they were not good at all. Just providing regular water was too much of a chore for the waiters.
The highlight of the visit was a huge fight that broke out between the restaurant manager and a fellow (who seemed to be a supplier or an irate ex-customer), which almost came to blows -- in the middle of the dining area itself. Also got to hear the choicest of abuses in Hindi ... finally just gave up and just about managed to run from the place!!
