We visited Utsav on a Friday night, on the day of Ganesh Chaturthi. And as expected we had to wait. The wait did not last for long and we were immediately seated.
The good thing about Utsav is that server the starters and soup at your place, so welcome respite to lazy asses like me. But before this we went round the spread. It was very elaborate and looked delicious. The KPIs which hep me in judging how good a platter is, were all in place and it was a matter of few minutes that I could judge what was in place. I was excited at the prospect of this.
The starters were not very hot. A big let down, but I was hungry and found the crispy corn too crispy. I did order a second serving of starters, just to taste them.
Thankfully, they returned with hot starters and it was some kind of saving grace. The starters were good, but certainly not the best I have had in Hyderabad.
We proceeded towards the main course with a tad disappointment in our minds. The main course however did lit up our faces. The paneer masal was awesome and so was the dish made of Bhindi. Trust me, this was the first time I ever saw the bhindi not screwed up in buffet.
The veg pulav was terrific. I couldnt help but went on for second serving of the main course too. I followed it up by having a stint at the live counter.
I ordered a masala dosa and some pani puris. Neither of them were outstanding, but certainly decent. The best show was that of the dessert.
I have a sweet tooth and a good dessert is as synonymous as a good meal for me. The kaju barfi, rasgullas and the rabri were worth savouring.
