Hotel uttam nivas is a bit of an odd option, but I chose it for a one-night stay as the start of a longer trip to Ahmedabad on the basis that it was cheap, and had a 24-hour reception ( my flight got in after midnight, and I wanted to make sure there’d be someone there to check me in) . Based on some of the other reviews I’d read, I’d prepared myself for something pretty basic, but that reality was pretty okay. The AC was distractingly loud, sure, but the bedsheets were clean, the room was large enough, and in a decent state of repair. The staff were friendly and helpful when checking in and out. No complaints, and would recommend as a cheap ( and central) base of operations for a short stay, particularly if you’re going to be out and about.
