Well I never actually saw the serial on TV, but I grew up watching it on video. I used to speak English at home all the time and my mom thought it would help teach me Hindi. And it did. Its done wonders for my Hindi vocabulary, so if any of you have kids...show them this instead of those trashy Hindi movies that are in english half the time anyway. I thought the entire series was good, but the Uttar Kand was better. It involves womens rights a lot more. The wigs are tacky, and there are some digressions from the main story of Sitas exile. But there arent any major faults. This is an important story. It needs to be told, and I think you should definitely watch it. Deepika as Sita gives a very good performance, especially in the next-to-last episode. My one complaint is that there are some digressions from the original Valmiki Ramayan. Sita is shown being a little too servile. Rams responsibility is glossed over and the public of Ayodhya is portrayed as being guilty. I think it was completely Rams fault.
