As far as I think this person is the only consistent player in the indian team as far as npower test series is concerned .as you can all see in the now concluded npower test match 1 in lords, though his score in the first and second innings were not upto the mark ( test requires atleast a century from such batsman), he was the one who played coolly . all he requires is a place up in the order where he can have a good partnership with those up there. by the time laxman comes to bat, the person who will be in the crease will be either a very exhausted and supportless dravid or the not so coolly playing ganguly. but the presence of dravid will surely help , but how long can an exhausted dravid stand? all both of them require is a minimum partnership of atleast 80 runs, and the other person should not be emotional or over reactive to the balls bowled and about ganguly is that sometimes when a ball bowled to him disgusts him or irritates him, he tries to go for a shot in the next ball which he does blindly . if you have these type of people paired with laxman the result will probably that he may not post a big individual score or he may get out cheaply.you cannot blame him for this , as it is a result of lack of partners. all I suggest is push him up in the order , keep him next to tendulkar, so that if either of those in the crease, dravid or tendulkar gets out , he can have the other person for a good partnership. if ganguly does this, I think he can extract more out of the talented laxman though he is in a ’satisfactory’ level now.
