VVS Laxman, is a great batsman, though slow but steady.I think that VVS Laxman is perhaps very unlucky for not being slected for world cup squad. He should have been in the team.
As far as his past performance is concerned, I should say that he was playing well. Though it is true that like other batsmen he failed in New-Zealand. If we take a glance to his last 10 one day games before New-Zealand tour, then his average is better then that of Mongia, Kaif, Yuvraaj and even Ganguly also.He averages 40. I think, Laxman by this time had shaped himself according to one day cricket but it is very unlucky for such an stylish batsman that in place of him Mongia (whose average is just 16 in last 10 matches) has been taken.
How can we forget that mighty 281 run inning, where he along with Dravid saved the Indian ship to sink. But, if we forget this also then we should take this point in consideration that he saved India in many occasions also(other than Kolkata test).
Well, I think that Ganguly and John are in favour of Nehra and Mongia. Ganguly wants Nehra to play coz he thinks that if Laxman plays then there is danger for Ganguly in future(I THINK SO). I think he is a part of a great gamble.
So, at last I want to say BEST OF LUCK to Laxman for the future after the world cup.
