Vasool Raja MBBS is a faithful remake of the Superhit Hindi movie, Munnabhai MBBS. Vasool Raja is a local rowdy. He has told his parents that he is a very successful doctor. One day, his father gets to know the truth. Vasool Raja is hurt to see his parents hurt, so he decides to become a doctor. What happens next forms the rest of the story...
I have seen Munnabhai so, it is difficult to avoid comparison with the original. It would have been better if Vasool Raja was just inspired by munnabhai and not a frame to frame copy. Somehow, I felt like I was watching Pammal K Sambandham Vol 2! maybe because of the Madras tamil accent, the style of comedy, Kamal’s hair style, his bunch of cronies etc..
Cast: (Mis-cast?)
Prabhu will never be able to act as a Hero again after doing the role of side kick. It was awful to see him dance. But, I guess his career ended a long time back.
Nagesh is a total mis-cast in the role of Kamal’s father.
Crazy Mohan has got significant screen time and he is ok.
Kamal looks jaded and bored in many sequences. This is one movie Kamal could have skipped. Age makes its appearance around Kamal’s eyes.
Sneha lends freshness to the movie. She does well as the female lead and looks very pleasing in her sarees :-)
For those who have not seen Munnabhai, Vasool Raja is a decent time pass movie. It is worth the money because the Kamal - Crazy Mohan magic still works.
But, it is not a laugh a minute comedy.
