Recently my wife and I had been to Adiga’s fast food restaurant in Jayanagr 7th Block (opposite to Coffee day). This is the closest fast food joint to our home and we usually go there to catch a quick bite whenever we can. On this particular day, I ordered 2 plates of idly and Vada (purchased the coupons) and handed it over to the serving counter. As I was handing it over I noticed that the guy who was serving the food was digging his nose. My wife also noticed the same. As the idly was passed on to him, he used the same hands to pick up the idly’s with his bare hands (the same hand that was doing the business earlier). My wife objected to this and said she would not take it. To this she received an arrogant response from the staff. I immediately raised an alarm and shouted at the guy who was serving.
The manager of the store (I think he is the manager) came to me and just listened tow hat happened and did not react at all. He did not think anything serious had happened. I was a little frustrated and went to the cashier and demanded that I meet a manager (since I was not convinced the guy I spoke was a manager). At this point the guy who spoke to me earlier (manager like person) came up to me and started shouting at me, he started yelling at me saying I was making a small issue really big. At this point thankfully other patrons of the fast food started shouting back at the manager and he went on his back foot. However my suggestion to him that his staff use gloves met with a cold response.
Though Adiga’s restaurant are very popular and know for quality - in this case the hygiene is getting highly compromised. Customers are treated like dogs and driven away even if a genuine concern is told. I think we are looking at a health hazard staring at us and lot of people will fall sick if this is the attitude of the fast food manager. In this case I had happened to observe this act - how many times do you think such acts go unobserved and we actually eat food that is not hygienic?
I think people must take action on such food joints that have no respect for cleanliness, hygiene or basic customer relationship. I also strongly encourage anyone reading this to send in complaints to the local health board or similar organizations so that action can be taken on this restaurant.
