Well when one strikes gold by doing something its the tendency of the film makers to use the same equation(read story) again and again .....
Trust me, its too strikingly alike to ignore the similarities.....
The lady is already engaged ..she knows that well but still is happy to sing half a dozen songs with a total stranger.
The bath scenes of Preity Zinta in DDLJ Kajol uses a towel whereas Preity uses a bathrobe...
Chopra clan loves rains ...need I remind u of the rain scenes ....to project the child in the female protagonists.
Well, the list can go on & on.
Somehow after the hype that was created, everyone was expecting something unique-special from the movie. But the love story was not different ...a normal routine love story over the span of 22 years.
The best part about 22 years is shahrukh atleast looks he has aged , he allowed some wrinkles on his face and also stooped while walking but then for Preity ... age only brought some unkept hair.... seems panjab’s air doing wonders.Infact I found it a little hilarious..how shahrukh’s front hair were shown longer than his back of the head hair ....his brow was covered his hair but he dint have a pony or any hair hanging from the back. Totally felt like a typo ...not 22 yrs but 2 yrs.
Thruout the first part everyone says qaidi#786 doesnt talk but tends to anyone who is sick & ailing...the qaidi#786 was repeated so often that it sometimes gets on the nerves. He had 2 set of names ...Veer Pratap & some rathore .
Another scene which needs to be mentioned....is the courtroom scene ......
Not only is there singing in the courtroom, but recitation of poem followed by a grand ovation. Comeon, Chopra Inc, be realistic....be in India or Pakistan ..I am sure courts arent the places you recite poems & then get ovations( judge included!)
Personally feel the movie has been wasted inspite of so many great actors in it ....AB, Hema, Mr & Mrs Kher, Boman Irani, Manoj Bajpai et al. All the actors acted fine but still the acting cant compensate for the lack of some story-line. Well the music is good ...but again the picturisation doesnt justify the songs. Infact the picturisation of songs was major let down.
Feel the movie could have been made with a better story line & songs picturised a little imaginative way.They were dealing with a span of 22 yrs some maturity in the movie wouldnt have been difficult to incorporate.
