I dont want to kill your suspense so I am not going to reveal the story in my review Well Here is another great tale of the two lovers (and one of them from across the border). Music is composed by Late. Madan Mohan (wow!!!). And till very last moments you dont know what is the name of the movie!!! These are some tactics (some may also call it formulas) adopted by Yash Chopra.
I saw this movie because it was a yash chopra movie. But was dissapointed a little. The way story was told is good but still I could not guess (as audience was left to guess) how come Rani (Samia Siddiqui) know about Mr Veer Pratap Singh?? The question leaves you unanswered. Some how I feel may be those scenes might have beed deleted/droped from the movie as the movie was already 3+ hrs.
Camera and Art Direction: The camera and art direction in the movie are good. Actually we all know that if it is Yash’s movie we can see the camera gussing over the beautifull fields of mustard or sunflower. In fact it became a kind of trademark for him, however most often we enjoy those scenes.
Music : Old wine in new bottle, which is good. songs like ’’Tere Liye’’ and ’’Mai yhna hno yhna hno ’’ are soothing melodies. Overall its good musical.
Screen Performances:
SRK: As usual he sweeps when it comes to romantic roles. In this movie he plays a larger than a life character who sacrifices himself for his love. He is good (not excellent) even in 50s role.
Zinta : The dimple girl is looking good in the younger role. But still got sharpen her acting talent when it comes to serious roles. But overall good.
Rani: It looks to me as if Rani’s scenes were altered and trimed to fit the movie in 3 hrs. But still she makes her presence felt. Specaially the scenes in Court Room she tries to deliver her best.
Big B and Hema: Well they are being picked up as a popular old couple from ’’Bagbhan’’ and being introuced in the movie when movie is just slowing down. And they do their role in perfect and disapear from the rest of the movie to give room for others. Well I liked the role of Amit ji (far better than Lakshya, where he is being give role just to claps and say ’’Well Done’’)
Rest of the Cast: The whole Yash Chopra team has done well they lived their roles. This is the movie which was a little different in the beging but again it comes to the same track as thousand of the Hidni Movies made by our Great Hindi drectors. I am sure movie is going ot be hit not because its excellent but because, there are not good movie releasing in the near future. But I will recomend (not must) this movie to watch.
Another drawback of Veer - Zara is the makeup given to SRK and Zinta in their 50s role. Its horrible! Should have been made better. At lease Yash should have learned from ’’Indian’’ from Kamal Hasan.
Well this my opinion about the movie which might differ from others, so dont take it so serious and enjoy the movie.
