Vettaikaran or Vaettaikaaran (as it gives correct pronounciation)s review:
1) We have seen Rajnikanths styles(dialogue delivery, Walking style, moving the hands & fingers in style.etc., ) - Sources say that even the Auto number is the same as in "Baasha". I did not notice that and I dont want to take a risk by going for second time to check it!
2) We(or most of us) have seen Mahesh babus stunts(like the one in "Athadu", where he breaks the brick wall with his hands)
3) we have seen Heros avoiding the heroines because the hero has chosen the dangerous direction.(ex: "Aaru", "Citizen" etc., )
4) we have seen Vikram in "Dhill" with a character who wants to become police.
5) we have seen Vikrams "Dhool" where he plays cat & mouse game with politicians and police.
6) we have seen characters like nasser & the late murali playing police characters that help heroes(Nasser in "Dhill" & murali in "Gemini" etc., )
and there are more and more situations.
How will it be, if, Vijay has all these situations in his movies and if Vijay handles all these characters.?
That is what exactly the producers and directors of "Vettaikaran" have thought . and they have given us this movie.
They have gathered all such situations and supporting characters that has won claps in theatre, fried it with good masala, and have the high fat content, mouth-watering dish called "Vettaikaran".
You can read the story from any other website. my aim here is to try and give you some insights about the movie.
Vijays previous movies like Kuruvi and Villu havent done well at the box-office and he badly requires a hit, in the likes of his "Ghilli", and so, the producers are not willing to take a risk of experimenting with a new or different concept.
The scenes like Heros friend being killed by villans, we have seen it in many tamil movies, including Vijays "Thirupachi".
A movie without any surprises, Vettaikaran, doesnt boast of anything new.
Hero going to town for study, love at first sight, Hero raises voice against injustice, Villan gets angry on Hero, Cat & mouse game between Hero and villan, Heros friend being killed by Villan, Hero gets very angry and kills villan - How many indian movies in the past would have had this?
Out & right typical commercial movie with:
- gana songs, build up songs, punch dialogues, actions, Long-haired goondas or roudies, tata sumo or qualis, villain having terror childhood, Villans son being womenizer, etc.,
There is one particular scene where Vijay jumps off the water falls, falls into the water down, swims, holds a rock, climbs and gives a pose. and at that time, he is hardly wet.! thats when the interval comes up. giving time for audience to bang their heads against the front seat.
Cinematography is ok, Locations are not that great.
A few songs have come up well., though, I personally felt that the song "Chinna thamarai." is a slower version of the English song from AcquaIn the heat of the night." ill try and put it in youtube when I find time.
After "Ninaithale inikkum", we expect more better music from Vijay Antony. But its not here yet.
As a tamil cinema lover - you dont have much to cheer about. If you dont see this movie, you will not miss anything.
As a hardcore Vijay fan - dont miss this movie. Your "Illaya thalapathi" is at his best in this movie, with all actions, comedies, punch dialogues, much like you would like to seem his as.
Bottom line - Full and full commercial masala mass entertainer without any logic, only for the fan following.
TO WATCH OUT: Vijays dance with his son in the first song of the movie"naan adicha . "
